D-Day to Victory Interactive is an online WWII documentary experience that follows the Allied journey from the D-Day invasion of Normandy to the siege of Berlin. The site is a transmedia extension to the six-part documentary series, D-Day to Victory, commissioned by History Television Canada. Both the TV series and website feature poignant interviews of surviving veterans retelling their experiences of the final assault on Nazi-occupied Europe. Several of them may be telling their stories for the last time. Along with the veteran stories, users can browse through biographies, artifacts and share with others online through Facebook, Twitter and other social networks. To commemorate and honour the heroes, past and present, users can share their thoughts and memories of war through the “Remember Our Heroes” section, where each thought is visualized as a Poppy, the international symbol of remembrance.
